  • Alice Tygart comments, "I am an 18 year old atheist-agnostic born into a highly chrstian household. I am Bisexual, though my family does not know it. My mother has, on many occasions, threatened to "Get a gun and kill [me] and then [her]self". I am hoping to move out along with my girlfriend to a place a little farther from my suicidal-homacidal mother."

I wouldn't be an Atheist if I didn't have a good reason to beleive the way I do, any theist would join us if they were just able to come into debate with an open mind. Sadly, many are not."

  • Jon comments, "I'm an atheist and I like this cause very much. I would love to see a secular leader for the USA, although, I'm sure that's quite a ways away. However, I felt I could add something, a personal argument if I may: Agnostics are really atheists. If you take 'agnostic' to mean 'without knowledge' (as is common), you realize that agnostics only make EXISTENTIAL claims about gods - not claims about their beliefs. So, if you ask an agnostic, "Do you believe in any gods?" It's a Yes or No question (I'm weary of bifurcating, but I believe that if you do not absolutely posit a belief in a god, then you do not entertain such a belief, and thus are an atheist). If you're interested I could discuss this more (in fact I would like to)"

  • Matt Rickman comments, "I am a Bible-believing Christian who loves God with all his heart. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the unchristian behavior of my peers. The teaching of our scriptures tells us that all people are created equal before God and worthy of respect and dignity. It is to all our shame that we do not live up to that teaching. All people regardless of age, color, creed, race, or sexual orientation are deserving of love and respect. Hating anyone for any reason is unchristian and just plain wrong. It is for that reason I am proud to stand up for all you guys and girls, regardless of any disagreements we may have about life, its creation, and its locus of meaning and morality. May the "nonexisting" entity I serve bless you all!"

But even if someone does not believe the truth, that does not make them not a person. Atheists are human beings who are perfectly worthy of all human rights, as are theists, regardless of whether or not a God actually exists; therefore, I very much support your cause and hope it will encourage a realization of the general goal of universal acceptance of all human beings."
